Sustainable Textiles Switzerland 2030 (STS 2030) will be organized as an independent association as of January 1, 2026, and will operate under the name Sustainable Textiles Switzerland (STS) in the future.

STS 2030 is a multi-stakeholder program that supports the Swiss textile and clothing industry in strengthening its environmental and social sustainability along the entire value chain. It sets common goals in the areas of climate, working conditions, circular economy, and transparency, and supports companies and procurement departments in the effective implementation of these goals.

STS 2030 was launched by three organizations—Swiss Textiles, Swiss Fair Trade, and amfori—which have jointly supported the program to date. The program has also received support from the FOEN and SECO.

Over the past five years, STS 2030 has become the central point of contact for sustainability in the Swiss textile industry. The founding of the association and the new name will strengthen this role and anchor it beyond 2030.

“Until now, STS 2030 was organized as a program without its own legal form. By founding the association, we are strengthening the multi-stakeholder approach and creating a basis for greater co-determination by all stakeholders, sustainable financing, and long-term establishment as an independent organization,” says Philipp Scheidiger of Swiss Fair Trade.

Anna Vetsch from Swiss Textiles adds: “Through networking, critical dialogue, and shared responsibility, we are consistently pursuing the industry’s ambitious sustainability targets.”

The targets of STS:

  • Climate protection: Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions along the textile value chain.
  • Human rights: Promoting fair wages and improving working conditions worldwide.
  • Circular economy: reuse and durable textiles, promotion of recycling.
  • Transparency & dialogue: Disclosure of social and environmental sustainability information to enable sustainable purchasing decisions.
