The STS 2030 program wants to boost the appetite for conscious fashion and textile consumption. In addition to the alignment of companies in the textile sector with the sustainability targets of STS 2030 the initiative that runs parallel to the programme wants to show consumers how and where fairly produced and traded fashion and textiles are offered and what possibilities there are to cultivate a sustainable approach to textiles. To this end, STS 2030 is working with the textile companies committed to STS 2030, to develop a communication initiative that will involve a broad public.

At the end of May, the involved actors came together in a workshop to discuss initial drafts for implementing the initiative, contributing creative ideas and noting possible thematic overlaps. As a first step, a digital platform will be launched to give visibility to the pioneers of sustainable fashion and textiles. The website provides an overview of the textile companies that are committed to the targets of the STS 2030 program, but it also provides background information on individual topics that consumers can use for their personal textile consumption. On social media, the pioneers of the sustainable textile industry and other committed personalities of the sustainability scene invite consumers to become part of the STS 2030 community. With statements on convictions and motivations for a fair textile consumption, they motivate fashion lovers as well as pragmatic textile consumers to decide in favor of sustainable textile products and to make this publicly known with pride.

Through this initiative, jointly launched by the different textile actors, the content and messages of the STS 2030 program can be widely communicated via different channels and involve a variety of stakeholders.  STS 2030 thus forms a network that also ensures greater external visibility for sustainable textile trade. The initiative is scheduled to start in the fall of 2022.
